Clean Flicks..

Saturday, May 30, 2009

No. I am NOT referring to the Utah based company that provided DVD's rid of "filth" for the Mormon masses, I'm talking about my Movie filled weekend @ the theaters!

Jeff & I are lucky. Two of our favorite things to do are EAT & go to MOVIES. These two things have become the classic, all-american DATE. We do it often.

This weekend we did it Friday & Saturday night. We saw two fun, Up-lifting movies (forgive the pun, I get it from my Dad..)

We saw "Up" in 3D. It was SO cute & funny. Its the new Disney/Pixar. I'd highly recommend it (particularly for my fam, Nathan would get a kick out of it, & Mom & Dad you would two, esp if you went with Nathan).

Tonight we saw Night @ the Museum 2. It wasn't as good as the first, but it was still fun! I liked it for 2 reasons: I love history & I love the Smithsonian.

Take advantage of the Theater. Its not often that there are multiple good, clean, clever movies out simultaneously!

The Praxis Proves Our Progress..

Friday, May 29, 2009

A month or so back Jeff & I took the Praxis II, which serves a few purposes. First, it acts as our comprehensive exam, and secondly it the standardized test accepted in several states for certification purposes. We devoted an entire day to studying & preparing, and felt well prepared going & coming out of the exam.

Wednesday was the day we got our results & we both passed with scores above all of the state requirements, which means we are certified SPED teachers & Highly Qualified Teachers, as defined by the No Child Left Behind Act. We're both excited & proud!

The convocation ceremony for UOG and their May Graduates from the School of Education was Wednesday night. Our professors decided to recognize the graduate students who received their SPED Certifications, making us a part of Convocation. Jeff & I rushed home, changed & headed over to UOG for the ceremony. It was informal, we got a certificate and one of the sashes we'll wear at our graduation in December.

YES! DECEMBER! We will receive our Masters Degrees, and our parents/family are coming out to celebrate, RIGHT??? Wheatley's & Gamett's??

And...

This was also the final week of school. Monday was a holiday, Tuesday & Wednesday were Field Days, Thursday was the last day for Students & Friday was a teacher workday/Luncheon. It flew by! I cannot believe its over! I'm going to miss my 8th graders!

The luncheon today was entertaining. There was "Astumbo Idol" (they chose 4 teams to perform for a panel of judges. My partner & I did "Like a Virgin", we got second place behind our Principal), Raffles, Food, etc.

Now its time to enjoy the weekend before Summer Institute begins! (8 Weeks of Summer Courses... The Home Stretch)

Rearranging..

Friday, May 22, 2009

We rearranged our bedroom. It was not an incredible feat, we only have 2 pieces of furniture, but it makes the room feel new.

Its been a while since blogging, for good reasons, they are:

1. We've been busy. We have 3 instructional days left (I use the term "instructional" loosely, as next week was have Monday off, Tuesday-Wednesday are Field Days, & Thursday is the last day of school... there will be little instruction going on.) Track season is over. We had the 8th grade "Award Ceremony" today, & church callings fill up the rest of the time.

2. I've decided to spend less time "surfing the net" and devote it to other stimulating activites, i.e. Journal-ing (Yes Mom, I'm using LDSJournal.com, I love it), reading (I like to read, but I want to LOVE to read), & sleep (I've been exhausted lately)

3. I thought I had another reason... Guess not.

We have a 3 day weekend ahead of us, & we could not be more thrilled.

I'm over my allotted internet time, so.. more later.

A note -to-self, Things I need to "BLOG" about:
